Average ticket
Average value of each sale in the period.
Average ticket is the average value of each sale in a period. Simple formula: Ticket médio = Receita total ÷ Número de vendas. It is the metric that separates growth by volume (selling more to more people) from growth by value (selling more to the same people).
Why average ticket matters more than revenue
Company A sells R$100k/month with 2,000 orders: average ticket R$50. Company B sells R$100k/month with 200 orders: average ticket R$500. Same revenue, totally different operations. Company A needs to serve 10x more customers — 10x higher operating costs. Company B has more margin per sale, serves less, scales better.
How to increase average ticket
- Cross-sell — complementary product added to the order. Typical lift: 10-20%.
- Upsell — higher version of the same product. Typical lift: 15-30%.
- Bundles — discounted combos. Customers buy more based on perceived value.
- Free shipping over X — creates a psychological goal to spend more.
- Featured premium products — visual anchoring. Customer compares, chooses the one in the middle.
Average ticket via WhatsApp
WhatsApp allows consultative service at the time of decision — different from passive e-commerce. Customer in doubt between version A (R$ 100) and B (R$ 250) receives personalized guidance from the attendant: "In your case, B makes more sense because...". This human touch at the right time increases tickets by 15-25% in e-commerces that implement consultative service via WhatsApp.
