Cooby and Zapext are both Chrome extensions for WhatsApp Web, but they do different jobs. Cooby is built to log WhatsApp chats into HubSpot or Salesforce: its extension is free with limits, then US$9.99/month for Pro or US$17.99/month for Teams (up to 3 users), as of Oct 2026. Zapext puts the CRM itself inside WhatsApp Web, with a Kanban pipeline and automation, for one flat price per number.

What Cooby is

Cooby's Chrome Web Store listing focuses on CRM syncing and inbox productivity. System tabs sort chats into Unread, Needs Reply, Awaiting Reply and Groups, alongside custom tabs, notes, reminders, templates, broadcasts and Google Calendar events. Paid team plans add message sync and a shared inbox over the WhatsApp Business API. A managed AI Sales Agent for API numbers is sold as a pilot, with no public price.

On 25 Oct 2026 the listing showed 20,000 users and 4.5 out of 5 from 137 ratings, in English only. Zapext had 552 users and 5.0 out of 5 from 45 reviews on 24 Oct 2026.

What Zapext is

Zapext works with your regular or Business number inside WhatsApp Web, without the WhatsApp Business API. It adds a Kanban pipeline where every chat becomes a card you drag between stages such as New contact, Negotiating and Closed. It also adds labels, quick replies (text, audio, media, files), follow-up reminders and scheduled messages, keyword auto-reply, voice message transcription, a privacy mode, backup, import and export, and sending to contact lists. The Plus plan lets up to 4 users share one number, with chat transfer and round-robin distribution. It runs on a desktop or laptop only; automations work while the computer is on and WhatsApp Web is open.

Pricing as of Oct 2026

Cooby lists two product families, in USD. The extension plans are Free (with monthly caps, such as 3 templates and 10 reminders), Pro at US$9.99/month without those caps, and Teams at US$17.99/month for up to 3 users, which adds HubSpot or Salesforce integration. The team-inbox plans charge per user: Starter is US$15.99/user/month billed yearly (US$191.88) or US$20.99 monthly (6,000 synced messages per user a month), and Growth is US$25.49 billed yearly (US$305.88) or US$31.99 monthly (10,000).

Outside India, Zapext Starter costs ≈ US$ 57 a year (≈ US$ 4.76/month) or ≈ US$ 9.60 monthly, and Plus costs ≈ US$ 192 a year or ≈ US$ 25 monthly (charged in Brazilian reais, BRL, at 5.2 BRL/USD on 28 Sep 2026). On the India plans, Starter is ₹699/month or ₹6,990/year and Plus is ₹1,799/month, paid by card in rupees. Paid plans include a 7-day money-back guarantee.

Paid monthly, Cooby Teams beats Zapext Plus for 3 users; on annual billing or with a fourth user, Zapext costs less. If your team replies from connected numbers through Cooby's WhatsApp API option, Meta's messaging fees come on top: Cooby says you pay Meta directly, per delivered message, with no Cooby markup. Zapext has no per-message fees because it does not use the API (see what the WhatsApp Business API costs in India).

Where the two differ most

CRM sync or a CRM inside WhatsApp

Cooby fits better if HubSpot or Salesforce is already your system of record: it shows and edits CRM contacts inside WhatsApp and logs messages automatically. Zapext keeps the pipeline in WhatsApp Web and can push events (a new contact, a label change, a card moved between columns) to HubSpot, Pipedrive, Bitrix24, Google Sheets or any URL through one-way webhooks (check the pricing page for plan availability).

Automation

Zapext includes keyword auto-reply, scheduled messages and voice transcription on every plan (see auto-reply on a personal account). Cooby's plans do not list keyword auto-reply, message scheduling or transcription.

Teams and data

In Cooby, team replies from a shared number work only for numbers connected through the WhatsApp Cloud API, not for numbers linked through the extension alone. With the extension alone, Cooby's store listing says chat data never leaves your computer; on sync plans, messages go to Cooby's Conversations tab and your CRM, and Cooby says it is SOC 2 Type II certified. Zapext Plus shares one number among up to 4 users without the API. Its CRM data stays encrypted on your computer and chat content is not sent to Zapext servers (see security).

With either tool, message only people who agreed to hear from you, at reasonable volumes, within WhatsApp's Business Messaging Policy; no extension can stop WhatsApp restricting a number that breaks its rules (see how to reduce the risk of bans).

Who should pick each

  • Pick Cooby if your sales team works in HubSpot or Salesforce and needs every WhatsApp chat logged there, or if a free extension with tabs and templates is enough.
  • Pick Zapext if you want the pipeline, labels, auto-reply and follow-ups inside WhatsApp Web, for 1 to 4 people on one number, at one price per number and without API fees.

Verdict

Cooby wins for CRM-led sales teams: native HubSpot and Salesforce sync, a free extension tier and a shared inbox for API-connected numbers, priced in USD. Zapext wins for small teams that want the CRM and the automation inside WhatsApp Web: Kanban, keyword auto-reply, scheduled messages and voice transcription, with up to 4 users on one number for ≈ US$ 192/year (charged in Brazilian reais, BRL, at 5.2 BRL/USD on 28 Sep 2026) or ₹1,799/month in India, and no per-message fees. Frequently asked questions

Is Cooby free?

Partly. Cooby Extension Free costs nothing but limits you to 3 custom tabs, 3 templates, 10 reminders, 5 notes, 5 scheduled events and 5 shared conversations a month. Pro removes those caps for US$9.99/month, and CRM integration starts with Teams at US$17.99/month (Cooby pricing page, Oct 2026).

How much does Cooby cost?

As of Oct 2026: Pro US$9.99/month, Teams US$17.99/month for up to 3 users, Starter US$15.99 per user/month billed yearly (US$20.99 monthly) and Growth US$25.49 per user/month billed yearly (US$31.99 monthly). Meta's messaging fees are separate if you reply through the WhatsApp API.

Is Cooby cheaper than Zapext?

For one person who only needs tabs and templates, Cooby Free costs nothing. Paid monthly, Cooby Teams (US$17.99 for up to 3 users) is cheaper than Zapext Plus (≈ US$ 25/month, charged in Brazilian reais, BRL, at 5.2 BRL/USD on 28 Sep 2026). On annual billing, or with 4 users, Zapext Plus costs less: ≈ US$ 192 a year, or ₹1,799/month in India.

Does Cooby need the WhatsApp Business API?

Not for the extension features, which work in WhatsApp Web. Team replies from a shared number do need a WhatsApp Cloud API connection, and Meta charges per delivered message on top of the Cooby plan. Zapext never uses the API, so it has no per-message fees.

Does Zapext sync with HubSpot like Cooby?

Not in the same way. Zapext sends one-way webhooks, for example when a contact is added, a label changes or a card moves between columns, to HubSpot, Pipedrive, Bitrix24, Google Sheets or any URL (check the pricing page for plan availability). It does not show or edit CRM records inside WhatsApp. If two-way HubSpot sync is essential, Cooby fits better.

Is Cooby safe to use?

On 25 Oct 2026 the Chrome Web Store said Cooby's publisher had a good record with no history of violations, and Cooby says it is SOC 2 Type II certified. As with any WhatsApp Web extension, check the permissions and privacy policy before installing, and only message people who agreed to hear from you.

Does Zapext work on mobile?

No. Zapext works only on a desktop or laptop, in Chrome or another Chromium-based browser. Its auto-reply and scheduled messages run while the computer is on and WhatsApp Web is open.
