WhatsApp schedule native message: what already works (Jul/2026)

WhatsApp is building a native feature for schedule messages: It appeared in beta versions in February 2026, but until July 2026 it was not released in stable version to the general public. When it arrives, it will resolve the punctual shipping — date and time, directly in the chat. Recurrence, scaled reminders and campaigns continue to require an external tool. Below, what each source confirms, with date.

Which is confirmed until July 2026

After years of requests — and workarounds like leaving the typed message waiting for the time —, native scheduling finally left the rumor mill. The table verified, in chronological order:

  • February 2026: TecMundo (02/26/2026) reported the feature in version 2.26.8.11 of WhatsApp Beta for Android: the message is written in the chat text box itself, with a choice of date and time — down to the minute — and a notice confirming the appointment. At the time, the function was under development and inaccessible even to beta testers, with no official launch date.
  • April 2026: Exame (21/04/2026) confirmed that the feature was still in beta, outside the stable version, and detailed a section for scheduled messages within the conversation information, where you can review, edit or cancel each sending before the scheduled time.
  • May 2026: WABetaInfo, a website specializing in test versions of WhatsApp, kept its article updated (31/05/2026) with the status "in development": the function had not yet reached all beta testers, with a gradual release in progress.
  • July 2026: we did not find official announcement of general release in the stable version. If you see a headline saying that "WhatsApp has released scheduling for everyone", check the date of the article: until the closing of this post, the feature remains restricted to betas.

Practical translation: Native scheduling is real and on the way, but still can't count on it in today's operation — not even to know the exact date it arrives on your cell phone.

How native scheduling works, from what the betas show

Putting together what TecMundo, Exame and WABetaInfo described in the test builds, the flow is this:

  1. Write the message normally, in the conversation text box — individual or group.
  2. Instead of sending immediately, choose to schedule: the option appears next to the send action, with a date, hour and minute selector.
  3. Confirm the appointment. The message enters an internal queue and is automatically triggered at the chosen time.
  4. Manage before shipping: according to Exame (04/21/2026), a scheduled messages section in the conversation information allows you to review, edit or cancel what is in the queue.

Three important details of the tests: the recipient does not know that the message was scheduled — it arrives like any other (WABetaInfo, 05/31/2026); shipping depends on the device maintaining active internet connection at the scheduled time; and there is no confirmation of support for Channels (Exame, 04/21/2026). And the usual warning about beta features is valid: interface details and even the scope of the function may change until launch — or the launch may be delayed. WhatsApp has not announced a date.

What the native will solve — and what continues to require tools

Here's the question that interests those who use WhatsApp for work: does the native feature retire scheduling tools? For personal use, mostly, yes. For commercial operation, no — because what the betas show is a scheduler punctual and manual, one message at a time, within each conversation.

NeedNative feature (beta)How to solve it today
Punctual message (Midnight Congratulations, Single Reminder)Yes — date and time, down to the minuteExtension on WhatsApp Web or manual submission
Edit or cancel before sendingYes — scheduled section in the conversation (Exam, 04/21/2026)Depends on the tool
Recurring message (every week, every month)No signal on betas — each upload is scheduled individuallyScheduling Extension or Official API
Scaled reminders (dozens of appointments or salaries per day)No — schedule one by one, chat by chat, no escalationExtension with scheduling and gradual shipping, or API
Campaign for a contact listNosending messages with gradual sending and consent
Scheduling linked to funnel/CRMNoExtension with CRM or API + platform

A point that the native feature doesn't change anything: the business contact rules. Meta's commercial messaging policy prohibits unsolicited bulk contact[1] — scheduling through the official app does not transform a purchased list into a permitted practice. Consent and cadence continue to rule, with or without a native scheduler.

When native will be enough for you (and when it won't)

Honesty before any tool recommendations: if your case is to schedule half a dozen specific messages per month — a friend's congratulations, a reminder for your spouse, a scheduled "good morning" — the native feature, when it reaches the stable version, will be enough. You won't need any extension, nor Zapext. It's free, official and risk-free.

The scenario changes when scheduling is a routine service: the clinic that sends appointment reminders every day, the store that programs birthday messages for the customer base, the salesperson who schedules follow-ups so you don't forget any open budgets. In these cases, scheduling message by message, opening conversation by conversation, becomes manual work disguised as automation — and that's exactly what the native feature, from what the betas show, will offer.

How to schedule a message on WhatsApp today, without waiting for the rollout

Until the function reaches the stable version, the available paths are the same as before — the complete step-by-step guide for each one is in the guide how to schedule a message on WhatsApp. In summary:

  • Personal and sporadic use: alarm on cell phone + manual sending. No fun, but free and without installing anything.
  • WhatsApp Business (free app): beware of common confusion — automatic greeting and away messages respond to the person calling you; they do not schedule a sending for a chosen date and time.
  • Extension on WhatsApp Web: at Zapext, the schedule sets the date and time of sending directly in the conversation, and sending messages to the base itself uses gradual sending, with a human cadence instead of a burst. Starter plan at R$49.90/month, with no cost per message. The usual honesty: every extension operates outside of WhatsApp's official terms — reactive behavior, moderate volume and list consent reduce risk, not zero.
  • Official WhatsApp Business API: for those who need thousands of scheduled notifications per day, with approved templates and cost per message. It's the right route for banking, logistics and large e-commerce — extension is not a tool for that scale.

The July 2026 Verdict

WhatsApp's native scheduling went beyond rumor and became a feature under construction: confirmed in the Android beta since February 2026, with a queue for sending, editing and canceling — but without a general release date and still invisible in the stable version. When it arrives, it covers day-to-day on-time shipping; recurrence, scale and funnel integration continue to be tool work. Frequently asked questions

Does WhatsApp now allow you to schedule messages natively?

Still not for everyone. The feature was identified in beta versions in February 2026 (TecMundo, 02/26/2026) and was still under development in May 2026 (WABetaInfo, 05/31/2026). Until July 2026, there is no release announcement in the stable version — those who do not participate in the beta will not yet see the function.

When will WhatsApp's native scheduling be released?

There is no official date. WhatsApp has not announced the launch; the feature appeared in the Android (version 2.26.8.11) and iOS betas in February 2026 and was gradually being released among testers. Beta feature may change format or have its launch postponed — follow the app's update notes.

Will native scheduling have recurring messages?

Nothing in the betas indicates this. From what TecMundo and Exame described, each message is scheduled individually, with a unique date and time, within the conversation. Repeated sending — reminder every week, billing every month — continues to require a scheduling extension or the official WhatsApp Business API.

Can you schedule bulk messages with the native feature?

No. Native scheduling works one message at a time, chat by chat — no sending to lists. And Meta's commercial messaging policy prohibits unsolicited mass contact, with or without a scheduler. Grassroots campaigns require consent, gradual delivery, and an appropriate tool.

How to schedule a message on WhatsApp today, before the feature arrives?

Three ways: manual sending with alarm (personal use), WhatsApp Web extension with scheduling by date and time (such as Zapext, for routine service) or the official WhatsApp Business API (for large scale, with cost per message). The /schedule-message-whatsapp guide compares all methods.
